What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from May 2025. ERO found that a large majority of students are at or above the expected curriculum level in reading, writing and mathematics, with results equitable across all groups of learners. It noted high-quality teaching with clear, structured routines in literacy and mathematics, orderly and cooperative classrooms, students with a strong sense of belonging, useful reporting to parents, and good support for students with complex needs. Since its previous review the school has greatly improved progress for the students most at risk of not achieving.

Attendance is the main concern. The school is close to the Government’s target for regular attendance, but attendance is not yet improving and chronic absence is not yet falling.

The agreed next steps are to keep monitoring attendance and adjust its strategies, evaluate how professional development is lifting teaching and student progress, and keep building relationships with families and the community to shape the school’s goals.

Enrolling

Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol, and the school may ask for proof of address. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, with priority for siblings of current and former students and then children of board employees, and by ballot when there are more applicants than places.

In-zone families are asked to apply by the same closing date as out-of-zone applicants so the school can plan, and families can enrol online. The school holds an open evening and publishes its closing date and ballot date on its enrolment page each year.
