About the All-Wheels Pump Track
The All-Wheels Pump Track was developed after the Hawke’s Bay BMX Club identified a need for a multi-use facility suitable for scooters and skateboards. In 2021 the Hastings District Council extended the leased area at Romanes Park to accommodate the new track. The pump track opened officially in early September 2023 and immediately expanded opportunities for wheeled sports in the district.
The existing limestone BMX track, home to the club since it was built in 2013, covers 7000 m² and meets national BMX standards. It has hosted events including the BMXNZ National Championships. The new pump track sits directly beside it, allowing riders to move between facilities on the same site.
Funding came from the Lotteries Commission, Pub Charity, Eastern and Central Community Trust, New Zealand Community Trust, Hastings District Council, Lion Foundation and First Light Community Foundation. The project reflects strong local collaboration between the club, council and regional funders.
