What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from April 2026. ERO judged that most learners reach fair and strong outcomes, and that these have held up over time.

By the end of Year 8 most students were at or above expected levels in writing and mathematics and almost all in reading; by the end of Year 10 most were there in reading and writing and a large majority in mathematics.

Almost all students gained NCEA Levels 2 and 3 and University Entrance, most gained Merit or Excellence endorsements, and results for Māori students were equitable. ERO also pointed to leadership that drives improvement, broad learning across the curriculum, tailored support, and wellbeing and pastoral programmes including the school’s Shine programme.

Since its previous review the school has made good progress, including a stronger place for te ao Māori and new extension classes in English.

Most students attend regularly and the school meets the Government’s attendance target, but ERO still lists lifting regular attendance as a priority, along with evaluating the school’s Year 11 diploma and making responsive teaching, including te reo Māori and tikanga Māori, consistent across the school.

Enrolling

Woodford House is state-integrated. Its enrolment scheme gives first priority to girls accepted as boarders, then to day girls living in the home zone who have a connection with the school’s Christian special character, ranked by family links to the school such as sisters and daughters of former students, then to preference students from outside the zone. A limited number of non-preference places can be offered once all preference applicants have a place.

Families start with an online pre-enrolment form, and girls can be registered from birth, but pre-enrolment does not guarantee a place. Boarding applications are open all year, while day girl applications have a yearly closing date.

About a year before the start date the school contacts families about formal enrolment, which can include an interview. The school publishes its day girl closing date and fees on its enrolment pages.
