What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from April 2024. This kind of report sets out what ERO and the school will evaluate together, here how much teachers’ professional learning lifts learner outcomes in mathematics and literacy.

ERO pointed to a culture of trust, committed and collaborative leaders and teachers focused on raising achievement, a respectful and inclusive learning environment, access to targeted professional learning in maths and literacy, and well established systems for monitoring student progress.

Next, the school plans to keep growing teachers’ skills through formal professional learning that embeds evidence-based practice, and to keep monitoring progress and measuring outcomes with a focus on fair results for all learners.

Enrolling

Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places. The school asks out-of-zone families to contact it about availability.

Families can arrange a visit with the principal through the school office, and the enrolment form can be downloaded from the enrolment page. The school encourages families to pre-enrol children who are about to turn five, and the new entrant teacher arranges pre-entry visits before they start.
