MELAA: Middle Eastern, Latin American and African.
Stand-downs and suspensions
Cases per 1,000 students in 2025, adjusted for the ages of the school’s students, compared with all New Zealand schools.
Suspensions: fewer than 5 cases in 2025, so no rate is shown.
These measure how a school responds to behaviour, and schools set their own thresholds, so they are not a measure of how students behave.
What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from September 2025. ERO noted that a large majority of students start at the school well behind the expected curriculum level and that the school’s work is aimed at speeding up their progress, with marked gains for the students most at risk.
Students told ERO they feel they belong, relationships between staff and students are built on trust, classrooms are increasingly calm and settled, and the school is bringing structured approaches into its daily reading, writing and maths teaching. Even so, less than half of students meet the expected level in reading and less than a third in writing and maths, results are not yet equitable across groups, and only a small majority attend regularly, which is behind the government’s 80% target.
ERO’s priorities are for the school to lift attendance, achievement and engagement, sharpen its strategic focus, plan a curriculum that gives students learning across all subject areas, build consistent assessment in literacy and maths that guides teaching, and continue professional learning for teachers, including for multi-level classes.
ERO also found that students with complex needs need better support, and recommended that the Ministry of Education give the school tailored support with this improvement work.

Enrolling
Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, with the board setting the number of places each year, and by ballot when there are more applicants than places.
Both in-zone and out-of-zone families apply through the online enrolment form on the school’s site. The school publishes its application and ballot dates, along with a written description of the zone boundary, on its enrolment page each year.
