What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a private school review from November 2022. This kind of review checks whether a private school meets the criteria for registration, rather than evaluating teaching and learning in depth.
During its visit, ERO found the school did not meet the criteria: the principal had not been registered as a teacher or been through the Ministry of Education’s fit and proper person assessment for school managers, teachers’ practising certificates had not been endorsed correctly, and safety checks of children’s workers needed completing. These matters were fixed before the report was published, and ERO concluded the school now meets the registration criteria.
ERO also looked at the boarding hostel, which then housed boys in Years 5 to 8. Boarders told ERO they enjoy the facilities and their relationships with hostel staff, routines and expectations are clearly explained to families, and ERO found the hostel offers a physically and emotionally safe setting that supports learning.

Enrolling
As a private school, Hereworth sets its own enrolment process and charges fees, which it publishes on its fees page along with a discount for siblings. Families apply online or contact the school’s enrolment team.
Class sizes are capped, so some year levels can be full. The school’s site says its main intake points are the new entrant year, Year 5 and Year 7, and that it keeps a wait pool for places that open up in other year levels.
