What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Evaluation Report from January 2025. ERO found that outcomes are increasingly equitable, with most students at or above curriculum expectations in reading, writing and maths and results still improving.
A wellbeing curriculum built around the local area, with explicit teaching of social and emotional skills, has lifted engagement, and students have a strong sense of belonging.
Leadership is purposeful, structured literacy and maths approaches are being built consistently across the school, assessment information is used well, and students with additional learning needs are well supported. Attendance is approaching the Ministry of Education target.
The agreed next steps are to keep using the school’s strategies to lift attendance for all groups, sustain fair and strong outcomes for every learner, weave te ao Māori, tikanga and mātauranga Māori further into the curriculum, and keep strengthening culturally responsive teaching. ERO also noted the board plans to give whānau and iwi a bigger part in decision-making.

Enrolling
Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol, with proof of residence. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places, and the ballot is held the year before a child starts. The school posts ballot details and its enrolment scheme with the home zone map on its enrolment page.
Families can book a tour of the school during the school day, and out-of-zone families who move to the area can ask the office whether a place has come up during the year.
