What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from October 2025. ERO found good quality teaching that is lifting progress in reading, writing and mathematics, a broad curriculum with a steady focus on literacy and maths, good support for learners with complex needs, and well established planning for improvement.

A large majority of learners meet or exceed the expected curriculum level in writing and mathematics and a small majority in reading, but results are not yet equitable across groups of learners.

Less than half of learners attend school regularly, so the school is behind the national 80% target, although ERO judged its attendance plan suitable and found attendance improving. ERO also noted warm relationships, collaborative leadership and useful, accurate reporting to whānau, while judging that work to lift students’ engagement, wellbeing and inclusion is still under way.

ERO’s priorities are for the school to raise regular attendance, bring in structured mathematics and settle its literacy approaches across the school, use targeted and culturally informed teaching so progress is fairer for every group, and build staff capability through a planned programme of professional learning.

During the review ERO also found gaps in staff police vetting, teacher practising certificates and records of safety checks on new appointments; the board has since addressed these.

Enrolling

Students who live in the home zone have the right to enrol. Out-of-zone places are offered under the school’s enrolment scheme, by ballot when there are more applicants than places. The school’s zone page describes the zone boundaries street by street.

To enrol, families come into the school office during school hours to fill in an enrolment form and pack, or download the forms from the enrolment page. Families can ask for a school tour, and new entrants have transition visits to their new class before they start.
